The train from Luang Prabang took less than 1 hour and was extremely nice. It was built by the Chinese and opened in 2021 and is the first high speed train in Laos. A lot of the journey is through the mountains with the longest tunnel being 9.3km long!

Our hotel in Vang Vieng is the biggest we’ve stayed in so far and we’re on the 7th floor so there’s a great view! Just a shame about the breakfast…

We checked out the famous bamboo bridge across the river Nam Song.

As you explore Laos there’s always reminders of the UXO’s from the clearance teams in pick up trucks and also deactivated bombs now used as decoration…

Slightly along the river we checked out the Namsong Bridge as it’s a retro older bridge made out of iron, just watch out for the massive holes as you walk across!

Last night we visited the Vang Vieng night market which is mainly clothes stalls with a few food stands. Its smaller than a lot we’ve seen in other places but still a nice experience.

We’re about to have dinner next to the river and this is the view for sunset…

We’ve both been ill the last couple of days with our first case of travellers flu…. luckily we’re feeling much better today and have got another 6 nights here and lots planned to see and do! Stay tuned!
