After a 4 hour bus from Cameron Highlands we arrived to Kuala Lumpur. After realising I’d booked to arrive at a different bus station than we thought we hopped in a Grab to our hotel.

The next morning we headed to the nearby MRT station which is only a short walk away. After figuring out how to buy a ticket we headed off.

Kuala Lumpur is known for having many huge malls so we started at the MyTOWN shopping centre.

After strolling around for a while we came across one of our favourite stores to look around, IKEA!

A short walk away is an even bigger mall called Sunway Velocity. We needed to purchase a ticket for something we’ll be doing next week as we couldn’t get their website to work…. These malls are so big that before we knew it we’d done 18,000 steps!

The next day for breakfast we decided to try our first ever Cinnabon in the food hall at yet another mall called The Exchange.

We then headed to the northern side of Kuala Lumpur on the metro to The National Art Galley. Always nice when it’s free!

There were many different exhibits to look around with lots of paintings, sculptures and pottery. Here is some of our favourites…

On the very top floor of the art gallery was an immersive projection room which was extremely good and better than some of the ones we’ve paid for elsewhere.
As we were walking out we spotted a photo booth so grabbed a basket each and gave a pose! We thought it would be a normal picture but it made us into art!

Afterwards we headed back to the mall to explore more. The Exchange is one of the newest malls in Kuala Lumpur and is over 1.3 million sq ft!

On the roof of the mall is a sky garden with many different areas and has amazing views of the city skyline. First we strolled around the jungle path that weaves around and has many different plants on display. There was also a fish pond, waterfall area and lots of play parks for kids.

From here you get a great view of the 23rd tallest building in the world called The Exchange 106 which is the centre piece of the new Tun Razak Exchange financial district.

A week or so ago we were watching a football game in Cameron Highlands on TV of Kuala Lumpur City FC and spontaneously decided it would be cool to try and see a game live. So we hopped on the website and got two tickets for 60RM (£5.49 each).

Because of the heat the games start a lot later and the kick off time was 9pm. When we arrived we went and found the home supporters end and headed inside. You don’t get an allocated seat so within your area you can pick to sit anywhere.

The game was against Kuala Lumpur City Fc vs Johor Darul Ta Zim and was a game in the MSL (Malaysian Super League). Johur Bahru where the away team is from is right on the border with Singapore.

The KL band were set up right next to us and although not so organised we enjoyed the banging drums and songs!
The game started off well but soon went downhill for KL. 28 minutes in Johor scored… then again 2 minutes later… The final score 4-0 to Johor.

Today we move from the outskirts of the city to right in the centre where we are staying for Christmas and New Year!
