Bangkok.

After 22 hours of travel we arrived at our hotel in Bangkok. Singapore Airport was amazing and we explored 3 out of the 4 terminals which are massive. They have many shops and restaurants plus a free cinema and butterfly garden. Unfortunately the Jewel wasn’t open as it was too early but we went through it on the Sky Train. We will definitely come back to see it when in Singapore next year.

After we checked into the hotel, we went and explored Lumphini Park which is Thailand’s first public park opened in 1925 and Bangkok’s largest park. It is used by lots of local Thai people for exercise, especially running. I joined them for a short 3km lap and then realised we need to bring water!

On our second day we first went to explore China Town. It was extremely busy and lets just say Tasha didn’t fancy breakfast there, the smell of squid in 37 degree heat is interesting…

We then went to ICONSIAM which is a large shopping mall with a food hall at the bottom. Tasha had her first Pad Thai of the trip and I had some sushi with some extremely hot wasabi.

Then we went to the MBK Centre which has over 2,000 shops where you can buy pretty much anything you can think of. We ended up walking 32,000 steps.

Today we went to Chatuchak Market which is the largest weekend market in the world with over 15,000 stalls and 200,000 visitors every weekend. We got wet from people already celebrating Songkran (Thai New Year) which officially starts tomorrow until Tuesday. Tasha got chased by a little girl and a bucket full of water!

We went to grab some dinner and made it through the crowds of people with their water guns. We’ll be gearing up tomorrow so we can fire back.

A family on the main road near our hotel are getting ready for the festivities…

Bring on Songkran!
