Ko Chang

We survived our first couple nights in the jungle (just). We had stupidly left our outside light on which attracted a swarm of mosquitos which was a sight to see before discovering there were geckos in our room! There wasn’t much sleep that night…

We have since arrived at our new place in the Bailan village on Koh Chang.

View from our room!

It’s a lot less in the jungle and only £4pp per night. There is also a lovely little girl called Maggie that lives here who has been adorable.

The first night we stayed here there was a massive power outage overnight in the village which lasted about 15 hours. With no electricity, and no phone signal we started to wonder if the whole world had been nuked and we were the only ones left on a small island! However it was nice to see people not on their phones for once and still enjoying themselves.

There has also been a lot of wildlife on this island. Monkeys, elephants, geckos, big lizards, flying fish, crabs & hermit crabs and we even managed to see a great hornbill outside our bedroom which apparently is rare to see in Thailand.

We have discovered our favourite beach on the island called Lonely Beach. The sea here feels like a hot bath and there are lots of fish (and the flying fish) here you can see.

We have also discovered one of our favourite restaurants here in the village. It’s called Nanny’s Restaurant and they do amazing authentic Thai food and also western food at a cheap price. You can get a main here for as little as £1.14! We make sure to go everyday. Tasha has discovered her newfound favourite curry, Panang curry.

On Monday, we leave the island and head back to Bangkok on a 10 hour bus before travelling to Ayutthaya.
