We made a flying visit to the city of Vinh for Tasha’s final injection and the opportunity to see where Ho Chi Minh grew up.
We went to Sen Village, Nghe An which was around 15km outside of the city centre.

You also got to see where his neighbours and family members lived as well as his fish pond, well, and blacksmith forge.

In the centre of Vinh, is Ho Chi Minh Square which features the largest statue of the leader at 18 meters tall.

To get Tasha’s final rabies jab we went to VNVC vaccination centre which was highly efficient and organised. Much to our surprise it was the cheapest one yet!
After four nights in Vinh, we took the train to Dong Hoi before travelling to the town of Phong Nha.
Unfortunately, our train was delayed by 1 hour (talk about home comforts!) and we had to wait another hour for a taxi to our homestay in Phong Nha. Once we were on route we realised we had booked our stay for the wrong month! Luckily they still had availability.

The next day once we were settled we visited the TikTok famous Duck Stop. Ticket cost 150,000 VND (£4.22) each which included being a duck leader, duck massage (very ticklish), meeting Donald Trump the water buffalo, a drink and Banh Xèo (Vietnamese stuffed rice pancake).

After being asked if we wanted to go on a tour 100 times by our homestay hosts we retreated to the pool.

On our last day we visited Thien Duong Cave also known as Paradise Cave. It was only discovered in 2005 by a local man before being explored by the British Cave Research Association. It was discovered to be 31km long making it the longest dry cave in Asia.

Today we got on another sleeper bus to Hue which only took 4 hours. Lucky for us it was a brand new bus so was very pleasant.

We are in Hue for three nights to explore the seat of Nguyen Dynasty and the old national capital from 1802-1945.
